Artist Statement
Nature speaks in subtle details—the soft flash of iridescent feathers, the intense focus of a bird in flight, or the quiet solitude of a forest clearing.
I believe that every wild creature possesses its own spirit, presence, and narrative. My goal as a photographer is not merely to document species, but to capture those fleeting, authentic moments where emotion and environment align. By bringing viewers closer to the intricate beauty and spirit of wild animals, I hope to foster a deeper appreciation for the delicate ecosystems around us.
The Journey: From Backyard Curiosity to the Wild
My journey into photography began in late 2023, during the later part of my 40s. Originally from India and now based in the lush Pacific Northwest near Seattle, Washington, my passion was ignited right in my own backyard in Bellevue.
Watching Anna's hummingbirds dart across the yard, I became fascinated by their aerial agility—how they suspended themselves effortlessly in mid-air, feeding with unmatched grace. Curious to freeze these microscopic fractions of a second, I set up my first tripod, mounted a Canon M50 with a Sigma 150–600mm lens, and began observing.
What started as a quiet backyard hobby rapidly opened the door to a lifelong passion.
When my family moved to our home in Bothell, backed by a protected greenbelt, our yard became a natural sanctuary. Setting up feeders and watching native trees blossom brought a vibrant array of visitors: woodpeckers drumming on bark, migratory songbirds searching for fruits and insects, and seasonal wildlife passing through the trees.
As my curiosity grew, so did my desire to venture farther afield. Traveling across the national parks and wild spaces of the United States with my family, I began spending countless hours in designated bird nesting sites, wetlands, and wildlife preserves—learning photo composition, fieldcraft, and the art of patience.
Style, Realism & Authenticity
In an era of heavy digital manipulation, I remain committed to authentic photographic realism.
- In-Camera Capture: I strive to create the picture in the camera at the moment of capture, relying on fieldcraft, understanding animal behavior, and natural lighting.
- Minimal Post-Processing: I keep my original photographs true to life, applying only minor adjustments to exposure and contrast to reflect what I experienced in the field.
- Ethical Standards: The welfare of the subject always comes first. I adhere to non-invasive wildlife practices—never disturbing nests, baiting, or disrupting natural behaviors for a photograph. A true portrait must reflect who the creature is in its undisturbed element.

Capturing fast-moving birds in flight and unpredictable wildlife requires a balance of intuition, speed, and modern technology. Over time, my gear has evolved alongside my technical skills:
